Successful billionaire mining magnate, Robert Friedland, joins junior Gold explorer as Chairman

Robert Friedland was the Co-founder and Co-chairman of Diamond Fields Resources, which was acquired for CDN4.3bn.

Robert has received wide recognition for his work in the industry including Mining Personality of the Year at the inaugural Asia Mining Awards in 2012 and the Dealmaker of the Year award for Ivanhoe Mines Ltd. from Australia’s Diggers and Dealers Mining Forum in 2011.

In June 2020, Robert Friedland joined Gold X Mining Corporation as Chairman (TSX-V: GLDX, OTCQX: SSPXF). Gold X’s CEO, Paul Matysek, and Friedland worked together at Potash One, which they sold for CAD434m cash in 2011.

Gold X Mining Corp. is a Canadian junior mining company developing the Toroparu Gold Project in Guyana, South America. Gold X has spent more than US$150 million on the Project to date to both classify 7.35 million ounces of Measured and Indicated and 3.15 M-oz of Inferred Gold Resources1, develop engineering studies for use in a feasibility study, and define a number of exploration targets around Toroparu on its 53,844 hectare (538 km2 ) 100% owned Upper Puruni Concession. Gold X has 38 M issued and outstanding common shares with more than 40% of the shares closely held by insiders and the Company’s executive management team.
